Home
groups
Christ Our Shepherd Church encourages all members to express
their relationship with Jesus in the context of small group relationships,
meeting in a neighborhood home on a weekly basis. We are committed to the
home group as the basic building block of a worshiping, witnessing, praying,
studying, caring, disciple-making, growing and living community. Currently,
close to 90% of our members are in home groups.
Mission
Statement
To establish and multiply in Metro Washington neighborhoods,
as many home groups as possible, that are enthusiastically committed to
relationships and outreach, praise and prayer, study and service, so that
all who are contacted can be connected with a small group (from 4-12 people)
for the purpose of growing in relationship with Jesus, and with others who
want to contribute more effectively and maturely to God's praise, to the
church's ministry and to the community's benefit and welfare.
What
to expect at home group:
The Last Supper is the best model for what to expect when
disciples meet together with Jesus. We expect the same features of that
gathering to be evident in our home groups:
• hearing the word
• asking questions
• offering prayers
• developing relationships
• serving others
• reaching the world
• praising God
