Healing Prayer
Healing Prayer
Jesus welcomed them.. and spoke to them... and healed. - Luke 9:11
Jesus provides a foundation for our healing!
A significant portion of the Gospels is devoted to the healing ministry of Jesus. The ministry model of Jesus was outlined in Luke 9:11 is our guide: to welcome, to teach, and to heal. As a church body we hope to express the hospitality of His fellowship, the exploration of His word, and the restoration of His healing hand. It is our great hope and honor to follow Jesus trusting He declared that "whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do" (John 14:12).
Jesus heals every part of the body, soul and spirit. Here are the ways we pursue His healing touch:
Inner Healing
Come to Me all who are heavy laden...
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Hurtful memories, words, or circumstances can wound our hearts and distort our view of God, others and ourselves. Jesus came with the purpose to free us from enslavement to those pains.
Spiritual Healing
If You confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord...you will be saved.
(Romans 10:9)
The greatest healing of the soul is salvation and its ongoing work of sanctification. Together we build one another up into wholeness in Christ Jesus.
Physical Healing
So they went out...and anointed...many who were sick and healed them.
(Mark 6:12-13)
Scripture often uses the word "many" not "all", when it comes to physical healing. While we know we do not always receive the physical healing we desire scripture still exhorts us to persist in asking.
Deliverance Ministry
The weapons we fight with...have diving power to demolish strongholds.
(2 Corinthians 10:4-5) Deliverance can be understood as lifting of oppression and the breaking of bondage from the power and principalities (Ephesians 6:12).
OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONGREGANTS
We believe the pursuit of Jesus' healing is an essential part of our discipleship, sanctification, and evangelism. Because healing as a disciple of Jesus is a life-long journey with God and others, our healing prayer opportunities are currently offered to those who are committed to living life together at Christ Our Shepherd Church. If you are a member of Christ Our Shepherd Church, please contact the church office to learn more about your opportunities.
TRAINING OTHER DC AREA CHURCHES
We have been blessed by many others who have been given the gift of equipping the body of Christ in areas of healing. Over the past 12 years as we have expressed these gifts among the body in DC we have learned and grown from the unique ways the Lord is working in our city. Over the past few years, we have begun helping other churches equip and begin healing ministries in their own congregations. If you are a church in the local DC Metro area and are interested in learning more about healing prayer, please contact us so we can get to know more about you and your congregations journey.
